Archdeacon of Halifax

The archdeacon of Halifax is the priest in charge of the archdeaconry of Halifax, an administrative division of the Church of England Diocese of Wakefield.[1]

History

The archdeaconry of Halifax has constituted the western half of the Diocese of Wakefield since that diocese's creation in 1888. Prior to this, the archdeaconry (and archdeacon) were in the Diocese of Ripon. Under the recommendations of the Dioceses Commission's Yorkshire Review, the archdeaconry would become part of the new Huddersfield episcopal area of a new (different and expanded) Diocese of Wakefield.
